Noel Sampler Stocking

July 2, 2021 By patgeary

The Noel Sampler Stocking was a 2014 release for the Ladies Prim Society. I had just discovered Blackbird Designs that year so missed out on it. Fast forward to June 2021 and I was at the right place at the right time when someone offered the kit on one of the Facebook stash selling sites.

The kit included the fabric, the finishing fabric, the floss and the chart. Since I don’t stitch on linen I used a 16ct aida from my stash, lambswool, I think.

I started stitching on June 27, 2021.

Recommended Floss: Classic Colorworks and Gentle Arts

  • CC Ladybug
  • CC Straw Hat
  • CC Wilderness
  • GA Old Brick
  • GA Old Hickory
  • GA Wood Trail

Specialty  Stitches: Lazy Daisy

The kit came with green backing fabric but I had a piece of Joyeux Noel Pearl by French General that I decided to use for the back of the stocking.

And I took the last stitches on July 2, 2021.

And my thanks to my stitching friend, Jan Emerick for the lovely finish. I think I need to stitch some more of these little stockings.

Merry Christmas by Blackbird Designs

December 27, 2018 By patgeary

Merry Christmas is the final design for the Ladies Prim Society Club offered by Dyeing to Stitch. The chart is from Blackbird Designs for club members only at the present time. It MAY be released at a future date to everyone. It really is an exquisite design for the final offering for this club.

The kit came with everything included, chart, fabric, floss and finishing instructions. The kit included 36ct Patriotic Brew by R & R Reproductions. Because that is too difficult for me to work on with my poor eyesight, I substituted 16ct Aida in Bramble by Picture This Plus. While I used the called for colors, I used 2 strands of floss rather than the called for 1 strand. The finished dimensions of my pincushion/drum will be larger than if stitched on 36ct.

Stitch Count: 101w x 99h (top)
Design Size: 6.31 x 6.18 (top)

First Winds of Autumn by Blackbird Designs

June 11, 2018 By patgeary

The First Winds of Autumn by Blackbird Designs is the 2nd offering in 2018 for the Ladies Prim Society. It is available only to members of the Club. It MAY be released to the general public but not for at least a year.

First Winds of Autumn Kit Contents.

First Winds of Autumn Kit Contents.

The kit comes complete with everything needed to complete the project, chart, linen, floss, and Lady Dot velveteen. The linen included is 36ct Vintage Beeswax by R & R Reproductions. 36ct is much too small for me to stitch on even with a magnifier so I am using 16ct Wren by Picture This Plus. The project is shown finished as a strawberry (large) but mine will be even larger so I plan on finishing it as a drum or have it finished.

Started Stitching: June 9, 2018
Finished Stitching: June 24, 2018

Now to send it off to the Twisted Stitcher Vonna Pfeiffer for finishing.

Rosehips and Ivy was a release of the Ladies Prim Society towards the end of 2017.

I thought first of stitching it as just a small horizontal picture, then decided to go ahead and stitch it as a drum. The materials that came with the kit included the floss and linen.  I chose to use a piece of 16ct Aida I had in my stash.

Recommended Fabric: 36ct Winter’s Brew by R & R Reproductions

  • Baked Apple
  • Brick
  • Caper
  • Cinnabar
  • Garrison Green
  • Mocha

Tis the Season Sewing Bag from Blackbird Designs

January 6, 2017 By patgeary

The last offering for the 2016 Ladies Prim Society is another gorgeous piece by Barb and Alma of Blackbird Designs. It is a lovely Christmas Design called Tis the Season Sewing Bag and pictured below.

Tis the Season from Ladies Prim Society and Blackbird Designs.

The kit comes complete with 36ct linen for stitching the bag, and a piece for the lining as well as the threads and ribbon for finishing. Since I cannot see well enough to stitch on 36ct, I chose a piece of hand dyed Brown 16ct AIda. This design is a little different in that the front of the bag is stitched vertically and the back of the bag is stitched horizontally. I am also stitching with two strands of floss rather than the one strand that was recommended.

Summer Garden for Ladies Prim Society

August 17, 2016 By patgeary

The second kit for Ladies Prim Society members for 2016 is called Summer Garden by Blackbird Designs.

DSCN0729

The kit includes everything you need to stitch the threadkeep. Because I do not like to stitch using linen, I chose a piece of 32ct mystery fabric I had in my stash. I am also stitching 2 over 2 rather than the recommended one over one.

Started stitching August 12, 2016.

All the Pretty Flowers by Heartstring Samplery

February 28, 2016 By patgeary

I had been seeing all the beautiful releases received by members as part of the Ladies Prim Society and thought I would like to join. When membership in the club opened for 2016, I decided to go ahead. I just received the first release for 2016 – All the Pretty Flowers by Heartstring Samplery which is pictured below.

DSCN0592

It came as a complete kit, including 32ct linen for stitching the design, the floss needed plus the backing fabric and trim. I really do not like stitching on linen and 32ct is small for my eyes and it feels stiff.  I will probably switch out the linen for one of the hand dyed 16ct Aida fabrics I already have. Once it is stitched, we will have to see how good my finishing skills are.

Started Stitching March 12, 2016 and finished stitching March 18th, 2016.
